I have owned several 300 (Win and Weatherby) I and 7 mm Rem Mag 338 Win Mag for the year 1992 and since then. However, 338 is too much for small game 48th

The 300 mags too much for the game on all 48 and are nearly as accurate at 500 meters. You need an Olympic class shooter the difference between 100 and 300 meters - and most shooters would not notice the difference.
Recoil wise - the two are almost identical, except that you can be a little pain and suffering to another 300, while the heavier 200 to 220 grain bullets.
